3PM Thursday game of ACC Tournament between Cal and GT... crowd will not factor in. Parents and @CINCYMETJACKET .. will make up about 85% of the crowd.

I do agree... 'be careful what you wish for' ...

ETA.. Cal had exactly ONE 3+ game winning streak all year. It was a 5-game streak involving a sweep at Stanford sandwiched by a win on either side of that series.
I don't think it's a slam dunk gimme win. All these teams are capable of beating us. But in terms of the best scenario available, this sets up the best for us.

To be honest, we couldnt have drawn it up any better.
Get the 16 seed on a 3rd straight game (on the opposite coast) and who just went through a lot of their pen.
Great final opportunity for Tate to get right before regionals.
Win this, secure a host site, and lets get 2 more against quality opponents to bring home an ACCT win.

Foley pitched both days, today he ran out of gas in B9.

They'll be on their 6th game in 8 days too. Here's their games from this past weekend.

This is not going to be easy. Their bats are hot. They are playing inspired and are confident. Our bats have been on the shelf. We need to bring our A game. Go Jackets!

That is the benefit of getting a double bye. It’s working out for us so far.

I feel pretty confidant now about besting Cal.

Beyond that…who knows, but if we can get past Cal without using Brady, Payden, or Patel…we’d be in great shape

Wake is out having left their best starter unused. I'm a big proponent of playing to win the next game... not the game after the next game.

I'm amazed that he wasn't brought in relief when things were going sideways. I agree with Hall's usual practice of trying to win Friday, then Saturday, then whatever on Sunday. If things go sideways for us tomorrow, using Jones or Patel or Paden is what we should do. Just win tomorrow.

Tech will be massive favorite tomorrow, something like -350 (maybe more) given who were facing and how thin they are at pitching. Great outcome instead of facing Wakes horse.

Except Wake's horses came up lame. (couldn't resist)

We can all blame @CINCYMETJACKET if we don't win with him there tomorrow. And buy him a ticket to Omaha if we go. :troll:

Thanks for putting this together. They will struggle to find 9 quality IP, hope we are patient at the plate and force high pitch counts early.

Looking at that, I would think their best options would be Piper (who finished the game today) and then a bunch of people with 13 innings or less on the year.

We need to ready to face a bunch of arms tomorrow. That could be an advantage for Cal as our batters may not see anybody more than once ……. No matter, I’ll take the hand we’ve been dealt any day.

The VT/Stanford game was the only game I missed yesterday, so I didn't notice but it looks like VT saved Renfrow for Clemson today.

3-1 Clemson after 4 with all the runs being scored in the first. Good pitching duel going on between Renfrow and Knaak.

Clemson in control now 6-1 b7.

Renfrow out after giving up 6 in 5.1 IP.
Knaak went 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 93 pitches.

Honestly I don't think a depleted VT team would've had much of a shot vs NCST, so I think this is the result we ultimately wanted anyway. I'd love to (win v Cal obviously and) see Clemson beat NCST and get them in the semis knowing we wont see Knaak.
