UNC fans are especially salty about Tech winning the RS trophy. Complaining about SOS for conference opponents and how we didn’t have to play anybody else in the Top 4. In a season where 1st-7th were separated by 2 games.

Meanwhile I’m wondering why they’re a lock for a national seed and we’re not when we have a tougher overall SOS, similar record, more Q1 wins, and we won the conference.
Does no one see the irony there? UNC is complaining... yet, they didn't even have to face the ACC regular season CHAMPS!!

Not a great place to put this and don't want to create a thread for it, but it sounds like we've had our first portal entries - freshman RHP Ryan Johnson and freshman C/OF Cayden Sheffield.

Johnson's Numbers:

Sheffield did not see any action.

Will be interesting to see Wake’s strategy. They have a pretty clear ace in Morningstar (6-1, 2.71 ERA) who is their Friday guy. Threw 108 pitches in a W over Louisville on Thursday last week.

I could see them saving him for us if for no other reason than to give him his full week of rest.
I always love to see how the chess pieces get moved around.

Wake is in a unique position that I'm not sure they have much to lose. If they drop the game to Cal, they're still probably a 2-seed. If they win the ACCT they could maybe steal a host spot? If I'm wake I'm probably saving my ace for Tech.

I'm looking to get tickets for Saturday and Sunday when we win Thursday. Does anyone know how home/visitor is determined?

Wake board saying Lunceford is the probable starter against Cal - he last pitched for them on Tuesday against High Point. 5 starts on the season.

So they’re saving their rotation for the rest of the tourney and it’s probably safe to assume we’ll see their ace tomorrow (if they beat Cal). Morningstar had the 3rd lowest ERA in the conference. 82/25 K/BB over 73.0 innings across 13 starts (6-1) w/ a .212 opponents BA. Gonna have to earn it.

Even more reason to cheer for Cal.

Ballsy move, but makes sense to have better pitching for potential three final games. Plus if Lunceford should have a very short leash and I would replace quickly if he gets into trouble with a starter / prime reliever.

Lunceford has 3rd most IP this year. So they have used him a lot. And Wake is 2nd in ACC in pitching ERA (4.58), just a bit better than ours (4.67).

I noticed Schmolke is having a good season. As long as it's not against us, that's great.

Do not want to face Morningstar, that is unfortunate for us if Wake wins. We need to pull for Cal here. Was partly why I wanted Miami over Cal (to have a better chance at avoiding Wake).

To get where we want to go, we're going to have to beat good pitchers from here on out. Might as well start on Thursday.

Perhaps Cal treats Wake's pitcher like they treated Miami's pitcher today. I assume Miami figured they could save their best for later in the tournament. Didn't work our for them. When you're in a win or go home situation, I'd throw my best to make sure I made it to tomorrow. But perhaps that's why I'm not a baseball coach.

No, they started Griffin Hugus - he's been their Friday starter all year.

OK. Interesting. However, rethinking things, in his situation he'd likely be starting on 4 days rest instead of 6 if he started Thursday. Not ideal. I would not be comfortable with McKee starting today if we had to play.
