Petty wasn't physically there this year. He's like 6'6 and is still building the grown man strength. His athletic traits give him a high ceiling, though, and I do hope he sticks around.

He's supposedly making a ton of progress in terms of S&C. I think he's gained 30 pounds of muscle since getting on campus.

Payton Joseph was the guy I thought we should've played more, but for some reason the staff trusts fusile and Moore. That makes sense give the volume of snaps they've played. But neither of them have the physicality, point of attack ceiling Joseph has, and the PFF grades are directionally correct and seeing Tana so low aligns with what I saw.

Payton Joseph and guys like that are how we will beat uga. We need to match that level of physicality on the LOS. We also need to play people at their more natural position. Carney at Guard is an example of that, he was playing tackle this year in an attempt to get the best 5 on the field. I get it, but at the same time I'm not sure it really worked once we finally faced a good defense in game 11.

If I were the coaches, next year's OL would look something like

LT - Mackenney
LG - Joseph
C - Transfer or Moore
RG - Carney
RT - Petty

Bring in a couple transfers for depth and maybe one surprises. Tana and Riggs would be better in short spurts and get another year to develop. The above is an ACCCG worthy OL.
I read that Joseph is off the team. Not sure if that’s confirmed.

Not sure what you are saying. Tech average is 7 wins with a flash in the pan every 6-7 years. Ish. Obviously no human could be so dumb to think we win 7 games a year absolute for 40 years lol. You would have to be so dumb to think that its not a discussion. No. Tech average is 7 wins that bounces between 6-8 and the every once and a while hits 9 or 10.

This year with the weak *** schedule I figured 8 minimum. We are at 9. May get to 10. But the 3 out of 4 losses late showed how that all works. The tech average in full effect
Dave Braine was right....We ran him out town because he said it....

Something seriously wrong with the whole Josh Petty thing...even forgetting his post-Duke NASCAR performance on 316, he only got 20 snaps...and it wasn't as if this year's OTs were Willie Roaf and Anthony Munoz....coaches did not trust him to play a couple of series each week? Please do not hit me with, "he is under-sized"......He weighs #280 and is an OT, not an OG/C....something wrong, here, girls...

Yes this was part of the agreement that ended the lawsuit (it may be 22 million not sure). That is why we took the 10 million for the game to help pay for this. No idea of we have the money.
This isn’t accurate. The $21M is a portion of media rights money that a school can allocate to athletes. NIL is completely separate and a Clearinghouse is being/has been put in place to make sure that any NIL deals actually involve the player doing something for hire.

Most (all?) P4 schools are allocating their $21M in full, with most to football and some to basketball. Stuff like the Haynes King Bojangles commercials are NIL, and are above and beyond whatever is allocated to King as part of the $21M. And quite honestly it’s how this should really work, IMHO.

Need a legit edge rusher but there is so much demand and they are soooo expensive because they can win you games singlehandedly (just like QBs who are also expensive).

You have to think there's a decent chance we are 11-1 right now and playing next Saturday with Romello Height on this team.
I really think Thomas Davis from App State (who is in the transfer portal and is from GA) is someone Tech may be about to pay top dollar to in order to try and fill the edge spot we need filled.

There is an error in your statement about undersized. He weighs #280 should say , the gt football website says he weighs 280#.

He played in Duke game when he was subbing for the again injured rt #78. He and 52 did fine job pulling around right side. Then after the play 69 was pushing and shoving when they scheme was to line up quickly. Rt 72 grabbed him and got him extracated. I was hoping he would get playing time , but for rest of year 70 got backup snaps. So far looks like Key got a 5 star high recruit while our starting tackle portaled to Arkansas as thier starting LT. Then we had to portal in carney 72

Looking Pitt who runs a standard offense ( not faulkner counter) both tackles are 320. Same as UGA. The LT for pitt is 6-8 came thru portal from Michigan.

I honestly think the offense will be better next year..AP is a really good QB who can spin it alot better than HK, he can also move really well. I think we are in for a pleasant surprise
I hope so , only thing I’m concerned about is the running game . Our offense was good this year but it’s because HK was a tough crafty runner and defenses having to account for that really made us tough to prepare for . AP can throw it well but if we don’t run it well it’s hard for me to believe the offense takes a step forward or stats as good . Hope this defense gets better to offset that

Who picks up the running game with HK gone. Holsey is good but not that big. They seem reluctant to use Maddox much. Maybe a big RB is in the portal.

I’ll have whatever you’re drinking. We had one of the top offenses in 2025 and now we’re without an OC. And it’s unclear what the collateral damage will be.

LOL
Yup. I should know better than to rely on program. Regardless, I wish he had taken more snaps

**prior to the Pitt and UGA games, after which we had a ~30th ranked offense

Look, y'all, we were pretty mediocre running the ball this year. Yes, Buster did a good job of scheming around that and passing to open up the run, but our red zone offense stunk because we couldn't run when we wanted to run. I think being less counter centric might help open things up.

In many cases the player is rated higher BECAUSE he is recruited by a powerhouse school. You have all seen it. We sign a 4 * who was recruited by the elite and immediately loses a star.
A 3* recruit lists us as his favorite. He's signed by Ala. oooooo. He must be special, Immediately a 4*. Not often, but this happens. Fact.

Dean Smith used to love telling the story about his recruitment of Kenny Smith - yes, that Kenny Smith on the NBA/March Madness TV studio. Back in the 80's there was one of the first newsletters that covered hoops recruiting in the ACC called the Poop Sheet (I kid you not...older folks may remember it). They applied star ratings. Kenny Smith was a 2-star according to the Poop Sheet's founder and editor, Brick Oetinger. When UNC signed him out of his NY high school, Brick all of a sudden raised him to a 4-star sight-unseen. Dean Smith laughed about this and used it many times regarding his disgust for "analysts", their star ratings, and how ridiculous he saw it all. Things have advanced today so not meaning it is all a complete sham - especially in hoops where they play better competition via AAU and travel/showcase for evaluation. But, to your point, reverse causation may be and probably is evident more than folks who worship the star system believe. In other words, are the stars driving the team or is the team/attention driving the stars. Maybe a little of both. I'll trust the coaches. They actually sit across the table, shake the hands, speak to parents and teachers and coaches, look them in the eye, etc.

Great example with Smith and Smith. I subscribed to the Poop sheet. Was entertaining

I spoke with an owner of a recruiting service once and asked about his ratings. He said they were the best out of all the services. I said wtte: Wow... I'd love to see your numbers behind that, because you could be really good or just the least bad of the bunch. His answer was what does it matter... he's on top.

That told me all I needed to know.
