The ACC has some teams with lots of money for football, way more than GT. Miami, FSU, Clemson, SMU and Louisville. GT won’t have top 3 talent level in the ACC. Doesn’t mean we can’t compete for ACC Titles. It will never be easy though.
Louisville? Their athletics budget is about $10m higher than Tech's but they also support more sports. Not sure they are spending much more than us on football.

I admit to knowing little about NIL money. Is there an overall cap on how much a team an pay? Are teams required to disclose how much they pay in total?

They are the bottom of the listed group for sure. Their NIL program is a clear level higher than GTs. They are a BB first ACC program.

I have no issue scratching them off the list. That still leaves 4 programs well above GT financially.

Need a legit edge rusher but there is so much demand and they are soooo expensive because they can win you games singlehandedly (just like QBs who are also expensive).

You have to think there's a decent chance we are 11-1 right now and playing next Saturday with Romello Height on this team.
Its amazing to see everyone focus on personnel when u just saw a defense play against a top offense and shut them down

Coaching was the issue as much as anything. Period. I wish i had time to do a video but our alignment and position playing, windows, backpedaling was totally different for uga. We had a coaching issue that was finally addressed because it had caught up to us. Our talent while not perfect was not nearly or close to what its performance was on D

The easiest thing to do is just say we need better players. Sure

We need better coaches too

Did the defensive coaches just get better? Did the players play better? Hard to say but the defense was much better yesterday.

The NIL is a joke. It’s not “pay for play” but absolutely is pay for play in practice. There is no cap or luxury tax on NIL spending.

If the 'Jess Simpson was calling plays' rumor is true, then the good news is we have the solution in house. I don't know that it is.

So Wrecked, are you saying each cool can spend up to 31 million on NIL on all sports combined? Does Tech have that much money to spend on NIL?

Yes this was part of the agreement that ended the lawsuit (it may be 22 million not sure). That is why we took the 10 million for the game to help pay for this. No idea of we have the money.

Thanks, Wrecked. Giving up the home game might be worth it. I guess there is no disclosure requirement. I just hope Tech has the full 22mil. It's hard enough battling the factories for recruits. I don't like the idea of getting in bidding wars with them.

i'll bet this puts some ADs in messy situations.

And I think VT will up their game with Franklin and their future financial commitment

Another thing…I don’t buy the schedule concerns for the next couple of years. In today’s college football landscape, you never know who’s gonna have what from year to year.
try again. I agree unknown in the ACC. But 2027 @ Tn, @Notre Dame and UGA had 2 teams in the playoffs last year and will likely have 2 in this year. All 3 have been strong for several years. I just wish we would lighten our OOC schedule outside of obviously UGA.

Louisville? The others make sense, but who wants the lesser school in kentucky
