Really hope we can retain Maddox. Dude is custom built for hammering short downs but has home run bursts too

His BYU touchdown was very impressive

Seems like he’s packed on 10 pounds every offseason
Well we'll have him at least for the '26 season...

Maddox should eb aroudn after that as well Hosley and Haynes will both be gone. Him and Powell shoudl be waiting for that,. We likely don't spend like we didn on haynes that was a money ball move. We were not goign to pay for one of the top QBs to come in an replacing King so we chose to go with a top RB and to focus on that. Mendoza should be fully in as the starter (or one of the other QBS) and established.

Need playmakers at WR. Allen looks good but is unproven, Fuhrmann is proven but can it translate to the ACC? Hopefully Penson is a stud

I'm glad the coaches gave Penson a try at WR. My guess = he asked for the chance, like Tony Hollings (hurts to remember him) did. When a player does that, you give him a try out to see if he can deliver. I bet Penson did just that.

I don’t think they were wrong, that statement’s just not granular enough. The OL LY did some things exceptionally well, others marginally well, and other’s poorly… and it differed by position. For example, one G and C struggled a bit in pass pro, and they were only marginal blocking the inside zone - seldom so in the RZ. They were good getting to the second level and pulling between the 20’s, but straight ahead was a weakness. Also, the C’s had difficulty with a consistent snap.

One OT was great drive blocking and blocking the outside zone, but was too slow on his first step to stop a hard outside rush by the DE. Result is he got a flagged a lot for holds and false starts.

One OG and one OT were awesome in just about everything they did.

Just my $.02 worth.
This is a little harsh but a fair assessment. I agree the C and G could get down field and really block but pass pro was only marginal and they were not particularly good man on man inside. I am sure I could name each of the players you refer to in your comments. I really would like to see us get a center that could move people and sometimes wonder if Riggs might be that man.

I definitely saw a video of Dalen getting an interception last week. I guess he is getting reps on both sides of the ball? I still haven’t see anything official about him playing WR.

Our WR room, without a doubt.
Since we have zero intel on this so far, I am going to withhold my slight doubt. He was a standout reciever AND QB in highschool… To me that just hints at extremely talented athlete.

Not calling him Travis Hunter, but I don’t think it’s safe to undermine a room because players are switching positions.

Allen doesn’t have the numbers of some more seasoned players, I think due to talent spread of WR room last year, but yea looks? I’m not worried about him in the slightest

Yeah, I agree. I'd say he proved it quite nicely end of last year
