One thing I noticed about a lot of play callers in HS and college. They try to out think themselves. If the other team has a weakness where you can get five yards almost every play, let’s quit doing that and throw long.

OLine will decide our number of wins. Everyone will talk about every other position on offense, but the OLine wins games. It’s why Bama was dominant and why Stetson win back to back. We need to get a mean tough OLine.

Truth. GT’s OL has not been its strong suit on offense for sure. Should be at least 3 new starters on the OL this year. How good they are will for sure play a big role in how good GT’s offense plays. One of many areas on offense that is a big question.

When you have shoulder surgery, you can't lift weights. When you can't lift weights, you don't get bigger and stronger. When you don't get bigger and stronger, you don't dominate the line of scrimmage. Sounds like we are going to have to hope some of those not on the injured list can play and play well.

Go Jackets!

I've noticed a number of comments similar to this about our OL not being a particular strength. This is hard for me to understand given that Tech was in the top 10 in the 4 major conferences in both yards per game in rushing offense and fewest sacks. Maybe someone could 'splain this to me?

Those comments were wrong.

This has been another in a series of simple answers to simple questions.

Good scheme to overcome an OL weakness to get the ball to players in space and use counters with the OL to give them good leverage on the defense. An exceptional QB at avoiding the pass rush and turning losses into gains.

You don’t have both a dominant OLine and a record setting kicker. They are polar opposites. We settled for way too many field goals the past few seasons because we couldn’t pick up first downs. Maybe we can simply blame Faulkner for poor play calling in the red zone. But, all of us know that good teams pick up yards when they have to. We couldn’t do that. I’m hoping that the Key/Goose combo gets us back to running down hill while pushing bodies. That’s what we did under O’Leary and Johnson. Under Faulkner what we ran worked until the field shrunk and the eye candy became ineffective. Sometimes, it doesn’t take 3 guys going in motion to create havoc. Sometimes it may take 3 TE’s and a hoss RB knowing we are going left to pick up 3. What Johnson did with guys like Laskey, Days, etc. and 3 star OLinemen was unbelievable.

I know some were criticizing the rumored “spend” for J Haynes, but it sounds like that young man has his s#!+ together!
All three impressive, and yes, Holsey gets to the point!
Yeah, Haynes is a NFL RB that we are paying to play for us for 1 season. He is a good guy and will show the young guys what a pro looks like. Key has brought this mentality to the program and as we get more and more guys into the NFL it will bring more guys like this to the team.

We probably couldn’t have gotten a better RB in the portal than JHaynes2.0

If he stays healthy it’s going to be a nasty 2 headed dragon with Hosley. The big competition will sharpen the younger guys like Maddox and Powell too
GG mentioned lining up JP in different spots. I wonder if he is a candidate to shadow at WR.

Happier with Godsey’s presser than I expected. He was ready for all the questions. Admittedly, they weren’t deep.

Based on what he said, hoping to see a lot of fun formations. I think we’re “opening the Fridge” again. I think BC will know us better than anyone, but it should be fun to watch.

I was going to say “if you coached for the Pats during their run, you learn a few things”, but UNC is all messed up.
