Weekend rotation announced.

Tate - Friday
Brady- Saturday
TBA - Sunday

Now that's interesting.

I'm wondering if Payden gets a shot on Sunday or possibly Patel

FWIW, we aren't the only one who has Sunday pitching issues. Clemson has Sunday pitcher as TBD.

FWIW, the weather is forecast to suck more than I originally posted. Friday highs in 50s but 25 mph winds bringing wind chill to the 40s for most of 1-2 games. Saturday just damn cold high 37 and winds near 15 mph most of the day. Sunday rain probable with high in the 40s. Enjoy @CINCYMETJACKET , I'll be in a warm bed sleeping during the later games.

Given the higher probability of only 2 games this weekend, multiply all answers by .67 and round if only 2 games. If only 0 or 1 game, oh well.
3 three game series wins if only 2 games = 2 wins
2 wins = 4/3 wins = 1 win.
1 win = 1 win
0 wins = 0 wins
17 to 26 three game series wins if only 2 games = 11 to 17 runs
14 to 20 three game series wins if only 2 games = 10 to 15 runs

For @gtbeak , protests can be filed IAW FAR Part 33 Protests, Disputes, and Appeals. Consistent with suspension of enforcement of laws for bribery of foreign agents and certification of shell companies, all protests adjudications will be found in favor of the administration.

If we win Fri and Sat, then Sun is cancelled it’s just like winning 3 games. Fri’s win is a win, Sat’s win is a win, then the no game on Sun is like a win because Danny only plays to win 2 of 3 and we were going to lose. That non-loss is the equivalent of a win, you might say even better than a win because we did not lose. Losing pisses us all off and the absence of being pissed off far out weighs any potential benefit that we might get from beating a team we expected to beat anyway.

McKee was good and Barfield was solid too. Johnson struggled in his first ACC action but I think he has a bright future. Offense was unbelievable!

Outstanding offensive performance by the team. All around effort.
Kyle Lodise is as advertised but I think the best freshman might actually turn out to be C. Daniel and that is absolutely NO disrespect to A. Hernandez as he is absolutely raking as well.

Since coach is always very cagey when it comes to injury status (Not interested in knowing their injury but rather when availability is), I am starting to get concerned about Paden. Really hope the kid is okay as he solidifies the pitching staff.

Now Kent will miss the series at ND. He will be sorely missed. Contact lefty hitter with a ba over .400 but people tend to forget his glove at 1b. I really hope this kid is okay.

With a healthy lineup, we are a top 20 team.

It was interesting that Giesler didn't play 1b yesterday, but Alex did.

Tate did what was needed yesterday. Barfield did fine as well. I like that Ryan got in against acc hitters despite his struggles as a freshman. Glad we only needed to use one of our high leverage arms yesterday but unfortunately, it was our left-handed arm as ND is a lefty heavy lineup.

It now appears Mason will likely take over the Sunday role but only time will tell.

We've moved up to 29 in warren nolan's RPI. Again, not a metric that means much except to the tournament committee (TIC).

Probably goes all the way back to 2019 as the last time we were in the top 25 rpi and/or ranking. Taking this series on the road could certainly do that.

Go get em Brady! Bring back the series win! I know one of the players parents is up there in South Bend and is on online so stay warm sir! :)

Way way too early for serious RPI discussion. BUT. ND had RPI of 8 coming into our series since they had played all but 1 game away and won all OOC games but 1. So we will get an RPI bump now, but as their RPI falls during the season as most expect, then ours will fall too. Just a little bit every game they play and lose.

I think Paden is hurt/sick. And Gielser's hand/wrist hasn't really recovered so that's why he isn't fielding. He sure is rusty hitting. But just a guess.

But we have a lot of flexibility this year ....... pitchers, hitters and fielders. I'll think about us being good (like top 25) after the Clemson and @Stanford series. We are better this year than last I agree. But others may be mo better (refrain).

Regarding Kent Schmidt, they said on the pre-game show yesterday that he stayed in Atlanta due to "an illness". No specifics beyond that, but my guess is that he has the flu or something along those lines and, rather than risk infecting the entire team, they decided it best to keep him "quarantined" for the weekend so that he can get well, the rest of the team can stay well, and he should be fine for thee Clemson series. That's speculation on my part, but speculation I feel somewhat confident in after reading between the lines.

Definitely hope/need Schmidt's issue to be as @gtbeak describes. Temporary and he'll be good to go after a few days rest and recovery. He's an asset at 1st base and when he's not there... some of those throws from the rest of the infield become something to talk about. Happened yesterday a few times... never really bit us.

I'm like @GTNavyNuke ...wish I felt like we'd seen enough to think we're top tier in the ACC. But until the competition is a higher quality, I'm trying to hold my optimism. Things are looking really good right now. Fun team to watch/follow for sure.

Go Jackets!!

Oh... and I apologize to you jinxter hexter people. If .... when the team 'blows it' ... and you feel like there is a correlation between the results on the field and a 50's year old dummy in Virginia's thoughts and ideas... I will gladly accept your ridicule and angst ... for therapy/venting purposes. Happy to help.

Glad you recognize what was done was a hex or jinx. Not a curse. From the authoritative source:

I don't understand failing to play a DH today. Does home team have the power on that? Does ACC?

If it is home team... I understand it's likely after consulting visiting team. I also understand today's weather in South Bend isn't "baseball weather" ...but that really shouldn't matter over playing a full conference schedule... when it could get done today. Tomorrow looks like a coin flip on rain.

If I was ND and I had a 1/3 chance of splitting a 2 game series vs a 9/10 chance of losing a 3 games series vs a 1/5 chance of being swept I know how I’d vote. It’s just playing the odds. 500 brave souls attended the game. It probably cost more to turn the lights on than they got at the gate unless they were selling hot chocolate at $10/cup.

I agree on the rpi metrics (TIC-tongue in cheek) as I feel it's a silly metric that the committee seems to pay attention to.
It is important to get ranked as this is what the sec does....They own the rpi top 20 and they play each other so they RARELY if ever take a rpi hit unless they just collapse.
For example, tech could secure two conference road series wins with a win today, but do we get the RPI credit of a secheat team.... No we do not.

I agree with you regarding Paden. Tech certainly cannot share injuries, but it would be nice to know if he's out for a while or expected back sometime soon.

I didn't see anything above regarding Kent; so, I hope he is okay and ready to get back into the lineup soon. Agree on flexibility but Kent is not only a strong bat but he is a very good fielding 1b. I think the future is VERY BRIGHT regarding Alex but he struggled a bit at 1b last night defensively so I'd like to see Kent back into the lineup.

We have very good guys in the pen but I'm hoping that Paden returns soon as it gives the staff the flexibility to move Patel to starter which I feel makes our team much stronger.

If we only get two games in this weekend, today is the likely game and the weather will be miserable. Hoping the jackets can take today's game as tomorrow would be likely not to be played based on the weather reports I see as a split only would hurt us based on the ridiculous rpi metrics and bias against a team like Tech.
Because of the insane media bias towards perceived top acc baseball schools and the secheat conference, tech is behind the eight ball regarding the polls as I can't stand the bias and personally think our team is better than #4 ranked ugag but we remain unranked.

You won't see Kent this weekend. He didn't make the trip. Illness... according to Colin on radio yesterday.
