ESPN needs next week's Vandy-Mizzou and OU-Ole Miss games to be ranked as high as possible. Makes whoever wins look so much better and same for whoever loses. Also helps if a very mediocre LSU has 2 losses to top 10 teams. If Vandy doesn't jump us, Oklahoma will.

There just isn’t a compelling reason for outsiders to rank us over the teams listed above us (from the cbs prediction). As stated by Brent Key and others here our biggest attribute is the guys mentality. That isn’t going to translate to better rankings at this point in the season. Need more sustained success

If we would have won the final two games last year you might see a difference in the rankings.

I'd be shocked if Vandy doesn't jump us. Shocked.

*Heather Dinich* predicts us #10 with a writeup that cites VT a mediocre out-of-conference win. Please do not give her any more clicks.

Projections I’ve seen are anywhere from 7-10 with 7 being the mode. I’m guessing 8/9 because they’ll find a way to move Vandy over us and Miami will be iffy.

LOL, what makes that statement worse is she got her start at ESPN exclusively covering the ACC.

I remember when they still allowed comments on those boards and the GT faithful always ragged on her. I honestly think that’s where her disdain for Tech came from and still remains. Wish I could find the image of her as a giraffe.

This morning ESPN has an article about playoff projections and all of their ‘prognosticators” have us in the playoffs. Now we just have to do our part.
Read the ESPN article and we are "ranked" any where from 4 to 9.

Win the next game. Then the next game etc.

2 projections this morning had GT at number 9. Vandy is projected at 7 in both predictions. OK 3 years ago (Pre-Key) who would have predicted Indiana at number 2, Vandy at number 7 and GT at number 9?
I do not think they printed up any bingo cards with that combination. 🙂

Get ready to be disappointed- ESPN surely hoped we would stumble. Ole miss and vandy probably ahead of us, Miami right behind- cards will be ranked but lower than Texas - time to hold ACC teams back so it looks normal and fair when they miss playoff

Give me GT at #9-#11. I don't care to be ranked this high right now. I like that we're good enough to be ranked but not quite good enough (according to "experts") that we were underdogs to Duke. I really like this team with a chip on their shoulder.

Now a top 5 ranking once we head into UGA week would be nice. GT doesn't need motivation for that game. If we make it to ACCCG, winning a championship and an auto playoff bid should be motivation enough.

A&M (with a very close W over a horrible Arky who fired their HC): Some seriously inclement weather conditions preceded a high-scoring back-and-forth at Arkansas, but the Aggies held strong with answers at every turn..."

GA Tech: "Brent Key's group is set to break into the top 10 after holding through a slow start in Durham and pulling away for an impressive win against Duke."

Miami: "Miami hangs on inside the top 10 in part because of the head-to-head win against Notre Dame,"

Tennessee: "The Volunteers boast another quality loss resume that voters will have to consider after a 37-20 loss at Alabama..."

And folks say there's no Narrative guiding these things....
Arkansas is not a good team. However, they were drilled by ND. Their other losses were all one score losses to A&M, Ole Miss, Memphis, and Tennessee. That is a tough schedule where they were just not quite good enough to win. They still have Texas, LSU and Missouri left. Likely more close losses for them and a new coach next year!
