I've been waiting for this thread to get started so that I can make this statement...I hope that we give Vahn Lackey a day off from behind the plate. He has been scuffling at the plate recently (10 for 45 - .222 AVE since the Virginia Tech series, and only 1 XBH the entire month of March), but that's somewhat expected when you have him catch 13 straight games as he has.

Agreed. Both to get him rest and to get Rogers more ab's.

Aside from Marshall, this team generally wins the games they are supposed to win which is a huge improvement over the past few years. Aside from Clemson, it doesn't appear we've faced any top tier teams but the encouraging signs are our pitchers are generally throwing strikes (so refreshing...) and the offense is legit. Defense is OK but has failed us in too many key situations so hoping we can clean that up. If Riley could figure out his command, I'd feel really good about having a legit power arm on the team.
Let's hope they can keep beating teams they should beat which could bode well for the next few series...

Dis I hear them say on the broadcast last night that Kent Schmidt had minot surgery (foot area??)…or did I dream that? If so one can guess he’d be out another month at least. His defense was key for this team….is key, actually.

They said he had surgery on his big toe. And then something along the lines of "should be back in late May". We really need Geisler to get going.
