Heartbreaking man. Generational offensive talent, special season with a double conference regular season/ACC tournament title, and #2 overall seed in country.

As much as we're all heartbroken, you know our players are hurting more than any of us. I don't follow GT baseball quite as closely as a lot of you, but this was an extremely fun season for me...even as a baseball part timer. I was literally driving down the Oregon Coast watching the game on the ESPN app because I was so invested in watching us finally break into the Super Regionals for the first time in two decades plus.

Personally, I feel like Ramsey knows how important it is for our program to take that next step. He didn't take over for Hall just to make it to Regionals. GT brought him on to carry the baton to take that next step for this program. I'm confident he will, our administration feels that way (hence the new contract), and so do our donors who just unloaded a brinks truck donation for GT baseball.

I wish it ended better for the players and for you GT baseball die hards.

I’ve been a bigger baseball fan over the years than any other sport because in reality it’s the only program that can be consistently elite in today’s NIL landscape. This might be the worst loss in the history of Tech athletics and I say that with the utmost sadness I am feeling..

I was also at the game. I really think yesterday's debacle putting us on the defensive. Confidence is a huge issue. I don't think we had confidence after that huge Oklahoma inning yesterday. But more importantly, the offense put up some numbers but not nearly at the level we did throughout the year. We only scored 1 run in the last 6 innings Sunday. We were blanked in 7 of 10 innings today including twice when we had first and third and one out. So yes the pitching was the bigger problem but I also think the hitting struggled for much of the last two games. I think pressure really hurt the offense and I think the pitching decisions were questionable as stated by many of the messages above.

Not exactly the words I expected out of our coach’s mouth considering the decisions he made. I feel sorry for the player and parents of the players. They all love our program but it was clear the staff was not up to the moment the last 2 days. Has to be bittersweet to have invested so much and get out coached when it mattered the most. Sucks for us fans also. Regardless of what Ramsey does until he overcomes this it’s going to be the albatross around his neck. We all just wanted to turn the page and move along, but it may be years before we have another chance.

Not a big Jackson Caudell person usually, but glad he put this out there. As confident as I am in Ramsey and where he's going to take the program, it's important to be held accountable. We don't know what the "right" moves were or if anything changes either way, but I like putting stuff like this out there so that he sees it and knows we all are watching and care.

There were definitely some questionable moves and I like this conversation vs the sky is falling mindset.

I just didn't think Tate was the one to close and maybe should've brought the lefty Loy in the 8th after Mason gave up 1 in the 7th after 5 scoreless. Don't get me wrong....Patel is a freaking warrior and nearly won the regional cause of him. Just thought the 8th should've gone to Loy....Just my .02.
The lefties from okie dokie seemed to do well vs the our RHP's.

Not responding to you necessarily so don't take this the wrong way, but honestly, I think the idea that if we couldn't make it with this team we're going to have a harder time with another team is a little lazy and doesn't really hold true in baseball.

It's often not the "best" teams that win it all in baseball. It's the team that gets hot at the right time and has the ball bounce their way the most. That's not to say skill and crazy talent doesn't help, but it isn't the end all be all. Look at Troy and Little Rock this season. They're just the latest version. Baseball is a funny game. I wouldn't say Oklahoma was a "better" team than us this weekend. They just won the games that mattered most.

We're going to continue to get great players. Better players than are on either of those teams most likely. It sucks a little worse not advancing with this team, but realistically we're going to have plenty of talent to move on next season. All about getting hot at the right time. It may happen next season, it may be in 5 years, but I feel good about it happening under Ramsey.

Eli,

Believe me......Oh I'm heartbroken for sure knowing we were 3 outs from Kansas coming to town but I simply won't post my emotions but rather my gratefulness and thanks to the players and coaches...
I'll keep my opinions to myself and just prep for football, road trips, and 2027 tech baseball

100%. A far lesser team than this one will be the ones to break The Streak. That’s just how it goes

Exactly...
Include Oklahoma in that mix...

They got hot at the right time..

Think they only had 2 players hit over .300. Probably had a team ba over 100 points lower than ours....
Look at the Ole Miss team from a few years ago that BARELY made the tournament as the "last four in" and many experts had them missing the tourney...

They rode the hot streak all the way to a National Title...

Remember....you can critique Ramsey and decisions made...He's a big boy and can take it (if he'd even care what we said) :) but Ramsey isn't 0 for 21 in regionals....He's 0-1. It's just that simple

That pressor was heartbreaking and anyone that can listen/watch that and not hurt for the boys....I'm like dang dude...

He'll learn from this. It's time to reflect. Support the program and move on to 27.

The #1 and #2 seeds get walked off on their own field. Not getting to be the home team on your own field is dumb - especially in a game 7 situation.

To be clear, I'm not blaming the loss(es) on this, just saying it's super dumb.
You could definitely see how losing benefitted West Virginia in both games.

It's tough watching that press conference. Baseball is such a weird sport. More than others, it's like the more you want it, the harder it is to succeed at the end.

I really think when we finally break through, it's going to be unexpected. Something like a 3 seed where we find our own regional host that is breaking down from the pressure to win. It hurts now but you know this whole group will be sitting here this time next analyzing it all and maybe it'll finally pay off with success.

It’s frustrating that better team, worser team we never pull through in the post season in a generation. Next years players have never seen Tech play in a Super Regional

Ramsey looked like a first year coach the last 2 days. Oklahoma's coach was quick to act when his pitchers were in trouble. We weren't.

This season, to me, felt different because of 2 things:
1. Our guys were patient at the plate
2. We had bullpen depth so we could stop the bleeding after 1 or 2 runs

We didn't do either of those these last 2 games. The moment got too big for our guys at the plate and they tried forcing the issue even when we had the lead. Then, Ramsey left guys in too long and the arms that came in didn't stop the bleeding. I really thought this was going to be the year we got to Omaha, but we fundamentally will never get there playing so damn tight in the regional....

Which brings me to my last point, **** our fans. Seriously, what the **** was wrong with the crowd yesterday?!?! We finally get a team like this and y'all act like an abuse victim the second there's any adversity going dead silent and exuding nervous energy. You don't think the team gets tense when that happens? We would've been better off playing away, because our fans' response to the situation clearly had an impact on our players. I've seen this in every sport at Tech and it makes going to the games miserable. The team is supposed to feed off the energy of the crowd not the other way around. Our pathetic loser fanbase is why no GT sports team will ever succeed because the lack of confidence is contagious and leads to an endless cycle of PTSD induced losing. It's ****ing pathetic and I'm sick of being associated with it. And, yeah, I get that this is the pot calling the kettle black because I do it too.

I think I speak for a few GT fans when I say this. We had a bad feeling about this series when some team with red on their uniforms was treated like the home team in our own stadium. Not being the home team, and not getting the last at bat for two days in a row, feels like bad mojo. Baseball is perhaps the most superstitious of all sports because the outcome frequently doesn’t coincide with roster talent. And, if you’ve been a Tech fan for any length of time at all, you are already predisposed to worry about bad things happening unexpectedly.

Even though some of us said weeks ago that anything can happened in baseball, that bats can grow cold at the wrong time, we still let ourselves dream of Omaha. Today was the nightmare we tried to wish away.

So similar to the ‘19’ season. Both teams were possibly the best in the country, and failed to get out of the regional via walkoff homeruns on our home field. Devastating losses to end great seasons. Damn , just damn. Great season guys, and GO JACKETS !

We could always follow the basketball model and suck from start to finish. No choking going on over there for the last 20+ years. I’m still appreciative of the baseball program despite our postseason blunders.
