Yep. A wise Tech fan once told me - and this was over 10 years ago before portals and what we have today... "the (football) factories run college football and the NCAA runs everything else". Nothing has changed and in fact over a decade later it is just more reinforced. The factories will break any rules to get an edge. Now, more "schools" are behaving like "factories" because the dam has broken wide open. Even if they all got together and did a mutual blood cut of their hands and shook on agreements to everyone abiding by currently non-existent "rules" that would have to be drafted, how long do you think after that the factories will break their so-called "agreements" with one another? 2 seconds? Maybe 1? I've been saying it for over 20 years...college football is really F'd up. And, it won't get any better.
It’s almost like you can’t trust the SEC to play by the rules. 😊

I would rather not have seen this. I thought that Luke would stick with GT. Excerpt below.

A Marist School graduate and the son of Tech basketball legend Matt Harpring, Luke Harpring appeared in four games in 2024 and made three receptions for 43 yards. This season he totaled 239 offensive snaps over 13 games and, among tight ends, was Tech’s highest-graded offensive player, according to Pro Football Focus.

"among tight ends, was Tech’s highest-graded offensive player" that's a set of words, for sure.

Agreement dated 1/1, portal doesn't open until 1/2. Literally easiest paper trail ever for ncaa to come down hard on LSU and Lane Kiffin for tampering. Meanwhile Jeremy Pruitt is a high school gym teacher for less than 100k in impermissible benefits.
"NCAA to come down hard on LSU and Lane Kiffin for tampering"... ha ha. Like that is going to happen.

Otherwise, I agree with you and wish it could happen. But, it won't. Unfortunately.

The problem is that a very unrealistic fanbase wants all programs to be judged by the same rules.

It really wasn't smart for Canion and Stockton to enter the Portal. They would have been receiver 1 and 2 for us.

They could possibly get buried on the depth chart at UF and ugag
I recall the anguish some Tech folks had when Singleton departed last year. I even had an Auburn connection text me and said "thanks for the WR". My reply was (truth!)... "you can have him". He had a less than stellar year as did all of Auburn FB. Having said that, he will be drafted in late April either late Day 2 or early Day 3. Maybe he would've been the same if he had stayed at Tech. Impossible to know. I especially wish Canion would've stayed at Tech, but can't blame him if he is getting money that will set him up for major financial stability in the future. And, UGA does get skill players into the NFL. I wish him well, though I'm not losing one second's sleep over any of these guys who are departing - including Harpring.

Re: Harpring debatable if he was underused this year. Either way, he’s not giving Godsey a chance. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Kinda strange considering Godsey has been coaching tight ends (no pun intended) in his last role. As far as being underused, not too many college teams utilize TE's like they do in the NFL game. So, if that is his beef, then wherever he goes, it likely won't lead to more targets. Looking back at my years following Tech FB, we have hardly ever utilized the TE perhaps as much as we should have. Even the great Tom Covington didn't get that many looks when we had Merchant, Rodriguez, etc.

Probably the only time TE was a featured part of our offense was during the Curry years when we had a duo of Ken Whisenhunt and Gary Wilkins.

You might be right on Stockton. If the rumors about Canion’s deal are true, he would’ve been dumb not to leave.

I hate the dwags with a passion and will actively root against him for going there, but if I was 20 (or however old he is), and someone offered me $2.3MM to go play for them, I’m going. I’m a competitor, but I’d sit any bench in the NCAA for that much money.

I always wonder what happened to our Bitcoin? We could have been our own Texas Tech..

When I was at Tech. One of my buddies was a top CS major. Nice guy. One of those very odd geniuses that would start talking casually about stuff waaaay over everyone else's head. Government conspiracies, niche programming languages, cryptography. Junior year he stopped going to class and started going into the GTRI. Couldn't tell us what he was doing. But a couple years later he had a diploma and a masters degree and a highrise condo... Then around about 2010, few years after we graduate. He quit his job and was 'making video game money' with a bunch of second-hand gaming PCs. Something called 'byte-coins' or something like that. He said it was going to replace dollars. We all made fun of him. It sounded ridiculous. If only I'd listened!!! Last I heard, he bought a bunch of land out west and was living off the grid.

(He actively does not like Football, unfortunately.)

Heck yeah. And, for visual effect, I'd order a pizza to be delivered while on the bench and eat it right there during the game. Maybe pop a few beers. And in the countless weak non-conference games when the team is ahead 60-0 heading into the 4Q that they always have and you are called upon to play, just say no. You've got a case of the runs from all the pizza and beer. What are they going to do? You been PAAAAAAAAAAID, babyyy. ;) ;) ;) ;)
