It's like I was reading somewhere. With over 7,000 in the portal, just means most of these guys have played their last cfb game but they just don't know it yet.

The smart ones make sure they have a landing spot before hitting the portal. Anyone that hits the portal without a spot is...well...probably not gonna be good at making business decisions.

Of course, some are forced into the portal. Prayers to them...

I’m not particularly thrilled about any of this, but I do think there are a bit too many chicken littles here. I’ve seen multiple folks in this thread call King a “GT Man” and we got him thanks to the portal. It does go both ways. Another example: Eric Rivers finished with more yards this year than Singleton. Losing several projected offensive starters to a team the OC went to royally sucks for a multiple of reasons(at this point, I do think something toxic in our locker room regarding our OC caused the season’s downfall), but a lot of the other examples here we have to take the good with the bad. Canion( on paper he’s a stud, but has he produced to his potential?) and Harper really weren’t that much of a factor for us. I’d love to keep them, but I’m sure we’ll get some good guys in return.

And this is coming from one of the biggest Negative Nancy’s here.

I don’t know half the players leaving us. I guess I don’t have time to learn their names when they’re just rent-a-players anyway.
I hear ya. Feel the same way. Not trying to kill the messengers of the info, but I kinda giggle for a second when I read "2 years eligibility left". I remember Tech posting the same thing when Romello Height announced his transfer from Southern Cal to Tech. When in reality the plan was obvious all along...I'm gonna be at Tech 1 year dudes and then I'm gone. I posted something about the Auburn QB having 4 years eligibility earlier today in a separate thread knowing that doesn't really mean anything anymore. Or, perhaps it doesn't I mean.

Yeah I find it amusing that players get paid for their name, image, and likeness yet I know the names of way less of our players now than I ever did before because it's not worth the investment to learn who's on your team anymore.

I figure out who we have as I see them play live and that's about it. Don't know the name of a single freshman we have coming in or even the names of our incoming portal transfers because I haven't seen them play live. They're strictly a number with a position and a few metrics somebody gave them until they step on the field for meaningful snaps.

I feel the exact same way. You aren't alone. As Metallica once sang... "Sad, But True"

Someone please explain to me why the heck is Luke Harpring leaving?
When I was on the phone with Brent Key earlier today and he asked my opinion on a few things, I got a sense Luke didn't like the fact that his sister is getting a ton of "NIL" (ha!) money to go play basketball at Chapel Hell. He's jealous...errr...make that "competitive"...yeah yeah "competitive" that's it...and wants to out-do her. So, he's going to follow his buddies Aaron and Bailey probably down to Florida. Or, maybe he goes to Chapel Hell.

I'm just glad his Dad didn't leave us in the mid 90's. Other than that last sentence, all of this was tongue-in-cheek. Love the Harpring Family and wish the best for Luke and his sister, Kate, except when they are playing Tech of course.
