Yep, not worried though. The offense didn't show up today and Gaudette finally got hit. The only question I have is why Ramsey didn't go to Patel in the 9th. Loy pitched fine but played with fire in the 8th. I wouldn't have brought him back out for the 9th.
Or PH for Daniel in 9th. Not Ramsay’s best effort, for sure.

No Hernandez again.

I'm now wondering if he hasn't been playing dinged up which has affected him at the plate and Ramsey is giving him time to heal fully before the playoffs. Something we will probably never know.

Umps will miss calls, they're human. When an ump looks at a replay that shows a clear mistake and somehow fails to correct it, that ump needs to be sent home. There just isn't really any excuse for what happened today with replay available. I get the 3rd base ump was asleep at the wheel, but the home plate ump got to watch it in slow mo. A no brainer, thwarted by a no brainer.

Sees like coach chewed out the team on their performance today. I would much rather have a let down loss in May than in June. I struggle to know how much I weight this loss. Let’s hope they string some wins together (and some clean 1st innings) and make this loss a forgettable one

Was the crew an ACC one, or a compromise one? Either way, they were incompetent.

The HR was a foul ball and they missed the called strike 3 that would have given us 2 outs. The next guy also struck out. So no the umps didn’t play all 9 innings and have a 4-4 tie with Xavier but they directly contributed to the outcome.
I told my wife the same thing whenever they missed the call again after the review. I felt it clearly showed a foul ball after they had the extreme zoom angle play. I said wow, all this because the home plate ump clearly missed a strike 3 call on the inside corner.

We shouldn't blame the incompetent refs for this loss, it is squarely on us. The miscue at first on a routine catch flat out gave them a run and we should not have been in extra innings. And the "homer" that beat us was by a batter with zero home runs up to this game on 2 strikes on a hung breaking ball that anyone playing college ball cpuld hammer. You cant make these kind of mistakes and expect to win crucial playoff games. Let's use this game as a lesson.

If I’m Ramsey i get thrown out on one of those calls. My team is playing flat maybe it fires them up.

Losing always sucks but happens. The offense was sub par as were McKee and Gaudette. McKee has varied between good and bad but has usually been bailed out by the offense. Gaudette has been consistently good.

Some things just happen due to variance; there have been games we scored a lot of runs in 1 or 2 innings but none in 5 or more. Last night was an outlier for the season where we only scored 1 or 2 in 10. Happens.

Concerning Ramsey chewing out the team as @techball21 said, I didn't watch (spent out drinking) and saw only one error by us (typical). But I don't know how many Bad Baseball Plays there were which while not scored as errors are plays that should have been made. Whether base running, fielding, lack of effort. That is what would concern me and be a cause for chewing out. Any specific examples? (@FredJacket how about we have a scoring system where BBPs get 1/2 an error?)

Hopefully our TBD starter is better than theirs's today. I need two big performances now to win the poll. Only 13 didn't pick a sweep.

Yesterday should also have been a wake up call to fans who has us penciled in to CWS, **** happens and winning a regional, even if hosting isn't guaranteed. ~70% of hosts win their regionals so ~30% don't.

I didn't see it change directions and there was also no sound. Usually when the ball hits the pole, it makes a distinct sound. And the ball never disappeared so it never went around the pole. I don't know how they missed that one.
Watching on TV from Florida it appeared to hook around behind the pole. You could see the ball through the mesh of the pole. Our announcers were convinced of that. The pitch before that should have been the third strike. No one knew what the strike zone was yesterday.

We played flat you could feel the lack of energy from the team. From an at-bat perspective we were trying to hit 50 HRs in the game instead of using our normal approach which lead to scattered hits instead of stringing together multiple hits and runs. Daniel is an example in the 9th we had the go ahead run at 2nd with 1 out and he doesn’t even touch a single pitch. A ground ball to the outfield wins the game, but he was swinging for a HR. It reminded me of the Ga. State game in February where we didn’t seem to want to be there.

I'm actually not that concerned about last night.

Complete aberration and I'd rather have the stinker game now than in late May or June.

Up until yesterday, we have swept every non conference series. We are 19-5 in the acc.

Do need to win the series but we played our worst game of the season. Alex is out hurt and not in the lineup today either. The umps were abysmal. The 3 run hr should've never happened. Forget foul or fair. The call that should've K'd the batter before was horrendous. CJR has made great moves all year but I agree with a poster above that Loy should not have come out to start the 9th as he gutted his way through the 8th but did labor. Offense really struggled besides Zuck. We also came off a rough and daunting conference slate. Sometimes this kind of loss can wake up the team that you can't just win based on talent and ranking.

Win the series and we are just fine.

Truly flush yesterday and move on. Win the series and this loss does little to no damage to our season.
