Maybe Geep wasn't keeping up? OL coach at Tech can't be easy when the Boss has vested interest in the performance of that unit. The OL did under perform this year. Kitchen is always hot it is just a matter can you handle it? Keep an eye on the portal that will be telling.
UGA (game 12) first half
Watched the gt center on each play - 52 hikes frequent low balls, 58 lobs ball. Played like underclassman .
Watched Guards then Tackles - pass blocking double team one guy hard while lb blitz king .

Watched Key the first 3 minutes. He was pissed.

After half time we did ok , but 78 was replaced by 70 who did very good getting initial block and moving downfield.

Toxic performance in game 12.

Key should own the DL for the bowl game and in 26.

Obviously this is all pure speculation as to if someone left due to a "toxic" environment. And what is considered "toxic" vs "tough to work with" can be subjective.

I will note there was one press conference (maybe after BC?) I remember one of the players (Malik I think) being asked about Key coming in at halftime and flipping a table in anger. Malik seemed to laugh it off and understand they needed to perform better but not everyone will respond the same way.

While I understand the anger, flipping tables would definitely be considered toxic behavior by a lot of folks in the year 2025
Toxic behavior? Now, that brings back a memory. Tech was playing someone back about 1998 or 1999 . Can't remember who the team was or the score or even, obviously the year but this incident made an impression on me. Tech had just given up a long touchdown pass on a post pattern with busted coverage by safeties who were literally jawing at each other on the way to the sidelines. Coach O 'Leary caught up to one of them being chewed out by an assistant on the phone. O' Leary jerks the phone out of the player's hand and proceeds, I am assuming, to chew out the assistant and then gets after the player. Now that my friends is "toxic" in 2025 or a quarter century earlier. Seemed to work.

I dont know if Key 1actually flipped a table or not. But I do know that a head coach is similar to a CEO and flipping tables is a poor example of leadership, in my opinion.
Does the CEO's business require tenacious violence? If it does, then the table flip is likely "speaking the language" of his employees and will likely get the message across. You can't compare a football locker room to a CEO's office.

This is football. The best coaches in the history of the support have done far more violent things than "flipping a table" and that especially includes Saban

You know, I recall a guy we are supposed to model our behavior after flipping tables when he was upset a long time ago...

Turning over a table is not toxic.
Is toxic the right word?

Going from finding a way to win for 8 straight games and being in top 10 to losing 4 of 5 by wtf is fertile ground for hurt feelings.

Geep wade is the canary in the coal mine? The guy that never stays long enough for the porch swing to stop moving?

And we are seeing teams lose players left and right, but our guys are choosing to stay in a toxic environment? None of this sounds right and I can’t see any evidence of anything “toxic”
That was quick. Geep went from great "Key has his man" to we all knew he would drag up.

I like key a lot. He seems to really embraced running a total program and being the CEO. Which is what is it is like now in modern college football with everything the job entails (managing NIL/contracts/support staff/media/recruiting/etc).

With that said, he is still a very awkward person in general. He has gotten better with media, but he is still strange at times. I can see where his personality isn’t always the easiest to be around. But he seems to genuinely care about the players and the people around him.

I think because he is so invested in the program he is very intense on both sides of appreciation and dissatisfaction. When he’s not happy I’m sure it’s not pleasant and that probably rubs some people the wrong way.

Bryce Koon needs to worry about covering the actual toxic environment in Baton Rouge. I have no idea why he still covers Georgia Tech none of his takes are actually positive towards the program. Last year i listened to one episode and it was him predicting a FSU blowout of Tech.. He sucks

These men are not office types. They are not thin skinned. As the hookbn bull top guy , Key is responsible to ask the right questions. Yea, he is rough around the edges. In game 9 WE were still hearing got to block better, get of blocks better, etc. What happened to the 27 senors who are leading the program

When things go sideways, quality folks who feel thier opinions listened too, leave.

Happen every day.

The road up is not a straight line

How much does it cost to buy the ND, Iowa, Iowa State ol coach?

You know, I’m starting to wonder if maybe he wants Tech to do poorly. When TFG was head coach, Bryce’s podcast was all about how he’s going to turn the program around any day now. And now that Brent Key is doing far better than his predecessor, it’s “Brent Key is toxic. Y’all should probably just get rid of him.”

His source is probably Collins.

We've spent 3 decades sparing the rod & giving them all trophies, now they find out there's only 1 trophy and only 1 person or 1 team can have it. Makes them confused, angry, etc and prone to tantrums or running away to find a happy place, That's what you got.

No no, I’m fully appreciative of what geep did here and I don’t have a bad word to say about the guy. But I’m just saying I wouldn’t put much weight into somebody saying it’s a toxic environment based on somebody who has a resume of bouncing around

As a millennial in the workforce, I don’t think Brent Key is toxic. He never throws anyone under the bus publicly. From everything I hear, his top priority is always putting his players and coaches in position to succeed. He looks to make sure everyone has the necessary resources, knowledge, and training to do their job properly. He doesn’t take well to excuses because he works hard to remove obstacles that create valid excuses. He communicates his expectations clearly and provides support when necessary. One couldn’t ask for more in a boss.

To me, toxic would be someone who has high expectations but doesn’t communicate them and doesn’t help his subordinates succeed. A toxic coach would always have an excuse for his own shortcomings but would throw others under the bus at the drop of a hat.
