Ramsey contract

If Ramsey was going to leave I’m sure he had opportunities in his 7 previous seasons in which we were the top offensive team in the ACC. I think he see’s a sleeping giant in Tech baseball in which he can grow to be a perennial top 5 team.
Ramsey certainly was approached by other schools in the past 7 years. He wants to stay at Georgia Tech. We need to get scholarships funded and we will be in good shape.

His stock has risen a bunch due to this season. Some of these big schools with too much money can offer outrageously big bucks to get a coach they want. Need to make sure he is paid competitively and has a contract he is happy with and feels supported by the fans and institute. Contract renegotiation will occur, if at all, after the season and through his agent. This team has been a bright spot this year regardless of how it ends. He deserves a bump.

While not untrue by any means. Ramsey's stock his risen more to fans than coaches (that is important for coaching searches too though). Coaches had already taken notice of the Tech offense, recruiting, and Ramsey's attitude/approach and many had already approached him. His name has been on many coaching search lists the past several years. To your point, I would agree that as bigger jobs start opening, schools will start throwing more and more money at him the better we get. We're going to have to come with some funds sooner than later. I don't care how much he wants to be here, he's also smart and he's not going to be able to turn down bigger paydays forever.

Ramsey’s father in law and mother in law also graduated from Tech so happy wife happy life. We have been behind in baseball funding as opposed to our peers for sometime now. Look at the lengths we have gone this year under the current administration to ensure Tech baseball has been at the forefront of every social platform and getting asses in the seats. I have no doubt we will do what it takes.

Also - Ramsay's an FSU alum and great past player for them. Link Jarret appears to be a very secure as the FSU head coach right now.....but that would potentially be the biggest future draw - as as a program - if Ramsey were ever to leave. But Jarrett - after an average/down first year at FSU in 2023, where FSU was below .500, he then went to the College World Series semi-finals in 2024, and in 2025 - lost in Super Regional. And this year they are very good again, 33-14 at present (with a chance to go deep in the NCAA tournament).

So keep Ramsey well compensated, and let's start a nice long run with him (and let Jarrett be good, but not too good, down in Tally).

I would argue that Ramsey is single handedly responsible for this lineup. None of these guys came here for CDH.

Also, this isn't a one season offense. Our offense has been ridiculous since getting Ramsey to campus. I don't see that stopping anytime soon. It's not just a player thing - it's an approach thing.
CDH is single handedly responsible for bringing
Ramsey in to coach & establishing a transition plan that would provide Ramsey an environment to prove he can be a P4 head coach without a single game of head coaching experience otherwise.

CDH has quite the coaching tree. It was a big draw for Ramsey other than the fact he’s from here and has other ties to Ga. Tech. Let’s just delete this thread honestly because when we started the Key contract talks we lost 4 of 5..

Don't think anybody has disputed that. Pretty sure the last time this convo came around everybody (even the CDH haters, of which I have never been one) gave him his due for that.

That doesn't really have anything to do with what I said. Kids have been coming to play for Ramsey for many years now. He's been the draw, regardless of how he got here. Drew, Alex, and several others have said as much in several interviews.

I wasn't arguing with you. Agree with you.

I’d have a hard time believing that he would have waited around for this job for that long just to hop somewhere else. That being said, I doubt UVA thought O’Connor would leave either. Very different situations, but mentioned just to reinforce that ya never know.

Highly successful coach, inadequate support by his university. He got tired of doing more with less. wanted to experience what doing more with more was like.

Who thought the Tennessee baseball coach would leave. Major league can be a big magnet in addition to big college programs. He seems to be such a good fit here, it would be tough to lose him.

We need to be competitive. But Ramsey isn't leaving just because someone has a bigger payday. There is something that Ramsey values more than money, and that's his family. (I get the fact money can help his family). IMHO, He's not going to uproot them to start over, unless, maybe, the money is significantly more.

A couple of other thoughts regarding contract negotiations during the season.

#1)
We saw how that turned out in football, specifically, before the Pitt game. Not good.

#2)
Our past post-season results is another reason not to focus on contracts till a later date. We might have one of our best teams in history, but we haven't got past a regional yet. Every ounce of energy and focus should be applied to finishing this season and post-season strong. There will be time for negotiations later.

Lot of SCar fans on Twitter and elsewhere seem to think Ramsey is on their hot board. I'd laugh in their face, as I think it's a load of BS. But hopefully we will give him a nice extension this offseason to prove it.

Another thing I can put in category of 'things I cannot control' ... we will have to get used to this, though. He's definitely shown he belongs. I do appreciate the "fan" that thinks you can "refuse to take 'no'" from a guy ... that's funny to me.

Lol. Ramsey isn't going anywhere. He definitely isn't going to Columbia, SC.

This is anything but a laughing matter.
SCar has won 2 natties (2010 &11) been to the CWS 11 times & the Finals 6 times.
They have tons of $$$.
I bet Alpert is taking this seriously.

As much as I agree with you on all your points. Baseball at Tech is a lot different than football. We have a lot of different built in advantages and are considered a premier program in one of the power conferences. Ramsey won’t be going anywhere for the foreseeable future imo.
