Give King the supporting players Reggie had and your had a LOT of wins.

In many ways it’s the reverse. One person keeping the team in a lot of games despite mediocrity everywhere else, vs one position holding the team back.

I think King is better than Ball and certainly would have been something with Megatron, but he definitely is a high highs low lows guy. Any GT QB who is a high highs low lows guy is gonna be compared to Reggie.

Yes....but not in the way that you think...Brent cannot block or tackle. That is the players's job...It is the job of the HC to manage clock (TOs) and manage kicks (go or FG/punt)
Brent Key is the worst game-day HC in the history of GT FB...
I wouldn’t go that far but he does need to own up to the clock mismanagement, etc.

8 players from that team played in the NFL including the best player in the country and greatest athlete in Tech history.

I didn’t think that was the comparison you were making, I thought it was a “lose all the big games at the end of the year” comparison to 2006.

Just for starters, 2004, 2005, 2006 would’ve been three straight wins over UGA if you swapped the QBs.

Give one of those teams this defense though and you win, what, 3 or 4?

A lot of folks on here blaming coaches like this is PlayStation must be blind. Players have to make plays, and our players failed to make enough plays. That last drive was pretty much all on the savior, Haynes King and our offensive tackles that whiffed on nearly every block on that drive. But, that last drive was about what I expected. We’ve seen that same ineptitude at moments all season long, even during the 8-0 stretch by the seat of our pants. The last 5 games, that’s been pretty much par for the course. I can’t wait until we have a qb that can pass the ball for the first time since George Godsey.
It’s not the last drive. It was the third quarter. That was on the coaches. I had them on the run and failed to put them away by playing a strange conservative brand of football once we got past the 50 - again.

Your last sentence is not accurate. Not by a long shot.

But I get how p_$$ed off and disappointed you are. It’s OK to get all the toxic $hi+ out of your system. It helps.

Don't think anyone disagrees with that .
Unfortunately I think the hype at the beginning of the season and the fact that many teams we played early on where just mediocre as well kind of skewed things.

Our D got exposed mid season and our offense stalled out too many times. Don't think that can all be fixed mid season.

I know you don't like key, but I still think he can redeem himself with the right moves next season

Like it or not he's done a lot of good for a program that was destroyed by coach waffle house
I see this interpretation: that we were never really that good and got exposed. I don't agree with that.

I thought the team played better during our 8-0 run. The defense was more physical, coverage was tighter, linebacker play was passable, and the pass rush at least noticeable. On offense we were more physical in the run game.

To my eyes, the team didn't fade because the competition was better. Our team legitimately faded. It seemed to pivot on the ankle turn of A. Harvey

Was at the game, had great fan support. Refs were unbelievably bad at multiple times in this game. I love HK but man does he choke at big moments, I wish his career didn’t end this way, but was really bad in moments and inconsistency down the stretch this season. To me, my feeling toward Key is starting to sour, horrendous clock mgt still in year 5, to go 8-0 to 9-4 is really, really bad.

He is going to have a lot to prove this next year. I’m not sure our ceiling is any higher than we achieved this year with Key in charge.

GT played hard and about like we have all year. Good but we have many issues. Defense and OL stand out as the biggest.
And...Here comes "it's the OL" comments...just left the Clemson page...they are also blaming "the OL"....seems to be a pattern here but I just can't quite put my finger on it....
Oh, and Alabama chat is also all-in on the "it's our OL's fault"...... How original...

That was the comparison I was making. The Reggie comment was mostly in jest.

The competition today was quite likely the second best they faced all year which doesn’t make the Pitt or NCST games look better for sure.

Those were just big whiffs.

Overall a great year. Ending obviously a disappointment. Young men left it all on the field today. Thanks.
The only mistake I thought coach made was going for it on 4th down when we were up 21-10 rather taking the field gold. and a get a 2 touchdown lead.
Weinke called a good game, King gave it all he had. Thanks young man.

Yes. We almost lost to a 2-10 BC team. Something happened more than just “better competition”. Key lost this team.
