Not only 3 straight losses, but all by double digit margins. Last 2 by almost identical scores. 84-74 to Drake and 85-73 tonight vs MSU. Monmouth, who has won 4 of their last 5, has to be licking their chops coming into Atlanta this weekend.

So I guess we’ll continue to have an empty arena with uninspired play forever at this point.

I really hope Alpert can find a way to get a coach who can actual be competitive again.

This season is done. They might pull off an upset, but they just look lost. I don't think it is b/c they don't care, they just have no hope without some movement in the offense and some type of strategy. This Pro-Lite offense without Pro players (there might be two or three teams in the entire NCAA that would have the right personnel) just equals turnovers, bad shot selections (which means poor %s), long stretches of no offensive production, frustration that spills over to D, and increased injuries due to trying to do too much (one person taking on double/triple teams).

They fought back to cut it to 6 points, then Hubbard took over. He is a really solid player. It's too bad that Tech couldn't compete in the paint better with Mo and Baye. If anything, I would like to see stronger and more consistent play from those two. They have the physical tools to make a difference down low, but don't seem to be up to full speed yet.

Reeves kept them in the game. If he can be a consistent scorer and the bigs play to their potential, then these games will be more fun to watch.

Some nice plays were run to set up shots but the shots didn’t fall. Meanwhile Miss State couldn’t miss, especially Hubbard.

When our shots aren’t falling it looks like our only chance is to play tough defense, crash the boards, and get points in transition.

I wonder if Ndongo and Sylla need to sit on the bench some. Mediocre effort by the guys that we depend on to make the offense work.

Lots of potential in Fleming. He needs to see the court more and more. I wouldn’t mind a three guard lineup of Fleming, Craft, and Washington.

Our bigs need to get their head in the game.

Any predictions on what our lineup will eventually be? We clearly haven’t settled on a rotation yet and that has kept the team from jelling. It doesn’t help team chemistry though when our bigs are underperforming.

Paint points , Board work, 3pt shooting. poor, poor, poor I blame myself for watching. Maybe there is very little talent on this team. Just pitiful.
We were supposed to dominate in the paint, right? Good grief. We don't even try to block out.

Halftime dogs were excellent. Kowacie had a really nice game shooting. Not much else positive.

I think Baye injured or reinjured his right leg in the first half. Sat out most of the last ten minutes and came out for second half warmups with a strange brace on his right leg. He definitely looked awkward running in the second half and didn’t have his normal explosiveness

Isn't this supposed to be the best talent recruiting stars-wise GT has had in 10+ years?

The possibly sad part is that I thought tonight was a better effort than DePaul or Drake. I saw some better ball movement on offense and Baye is becoming an elite passer when he is doubled in the post. We still have a lot of possessions that end with a shot that has me shaking my head, but I saw less of that tonight than the past 2 games. Rebounding was good and the energy out the gate was solid. We took good care of the ball.

Defensively, they completely shut down Hubbard in the first half which gave other guys opportunities. They did a decent job converting. Then we tried giving Hubbard more of a window in the second half hoping he would stay cold and he hit some ridiculous looks. That’s hoops. Some tough calls tonight also I thought but nothing that would have tilted the result the other direction.

You saw tonight that it is a guards game and we just do not have that stellar athlete that can take over when facing off against a Hubbard or Epps, That was not an unrealistic outcome to many of us during preseason predictions and unfortunately it has rang true.

Agree with this. Had a wrap similar to the one that Mustaf wears around his midsection when he’s not in the game - stim, or just heating?

He was not moving well in the second half. And he looked exhausted from the effort he was giving.

Baye and Sylla both look a little gimpy to me. Neither seems explosive at the rim. Something is up.

The bigger concern is CDS. WOW. I’ve been supportive of the likely talent upgrade, but if you listen to his post-presser, he mentions things ( gotta practice game speed shots, gotta know how to get self open thru scout game plan, gotta have fight/a willingness to want it, need a leader to emerge … coach, I got news for you; you’re in control of finding this, teaching this, and then mandating it, or you sit. Btw, these are “your guys, right.”???
I’ll say it again, you knew what your roster and talent would be, you brought em ALL in; how as a successful PG do YOU not position the team with at least one player that can man the PG spot in a leading style. You have players you’re “hoping” fill the role. IMO, CDS owns these losses, and if he rights the ship, he’ll own the success. Sucks, but the trend line is indicating he’s not capable of coaching up the talent, or elevating through game planning. Also, get DAMN fired up from sidelines… if we don’t have a leader in a jersey, the Coach damn well better become that with a bit more fiery personality.
OK , sorry for angry post; frustrated like all of you when we watch our talent regress.

This. I’m a passive fan so I don’t know all the details on scheme etc when I’m watching. When watching the COFH game this year, uga coach was laser focused on everything going on. He’s a bit of a weirdo, but that weirdo was strategizing real time with assistants and players. Contrast that to CDS slumped over on a chair with the same “C’mon man” grimace his face the whole game.

Can’t win too many games shooting 34% and allowing the opponent to shoot 51%. I think one of the most embarrassing parts is that the announcers talked about their energy being so much better than our energy several times in the game. No excuse for that! I know they care (way more than any of us), but at times they just look like they’re running through the motions. I don’t understand how guys forget how to shoot when they come to Tech. Craft can’t hit anything. I understand it’s a higher level than Miami (OH), but he’s missing wide open shots. Frustrating brand of basketball to watch, for sure.

As stated earlier, the obvious answers to the loss are that we can't shoot from the field overall, especially from three-point land, nor can we shoot with a darn at the free-throw line. Also getting out rebounded by a smaller team 😠
