Lamar Washington graduated last weekend. Good for him, mission accomplished. Only basketball player of 56 BS student athletes.

Based on Georgia Tech athletics announcements for the spring 2026 graduation, Lamar Washington is listed among the men's basketball student-athletes graduating.
I saw that too, Tom, and I forgot to post it. Thanks for doing that.

Griggs could have chosen the college path at OTE like others did, taking a $100k tuition grant per year to develop his game. He chose to take the $1.2 million from OTE in 2021. He was considered a professional

They received a grant tuition waiver to be at OTE, which was not an NCAA violation as being paid. the option for someone not going to college was at least a $100k paid ocntract. Griggs got $1.2M for two years and not on the college path. Not sure he attended classes to prepare for college entrance requirements since he did not graduate high school before joining OTE in 2021. Probably could not get in to Tech 5 years later without academic credentials.

We're so 2019 about those "academic credentials."
The hypocrisy here of the ncaa and all of its member institutions is both appalling and hilarious.

Frankly, I am becoming put out that colleges even allow these mercenary, 2nd rate, semi-pro athlete/scam artists to enroll and call themselves students. Just pay them to play basketball (or football or whatever) and otherwise don’t let them step foot on campus. For that matter, make them wear generic jerseys and don’t let them call themselves Yellow Jackets. Drop the charade and let’s see how interested fans are.

I agree with a JUCO big guy to be around the basket, like Coach Morrison would say to him, "make em' go to the line cross-eyed".
He must have brought Lee Goza in from junior college. Cremins inherited him for his first team and threw him off the team for dirty play in practice. He did let him come back later.

The published story. Bobby said he was not a dirty player, just a physical player. After All-star at Greater Atlanta Christian, played for first year Hugh Durham at Georgia as his first signed recruit his freshman year, then went to Alabama Christian JC for a year and then signed by Dwane at Tech. Then Bobby inherited him his senior year, kicked him off the team and then had to ask him to return, being in need for a center. Lee played an average of 31 minutes in every game. Glad Coach Cross has several Lee Goza types. He needs to have a Lee Goza award annually.
From the vault.

I like a physical player with intensity, breaking traps, hitting the floor for the ball, and attacking the basket. My guess is that Coach Cross has a group of guards who show this as well. 15 physical OKG's practicing and playing with intensity should be fun to watch. No standing around waiting for something to happen.

My high school coach said if you were going to foul a guard driving the lane, hit him hard enough that he remembers it for a while. Hopefully for the rest of the game.
