All good names, but I'd bet it is someone that we haven't heard of. That's fine...They don't need to be hyped up.

Diop and Cole will be serviceable, and I expect both to blossom under Cross, but neither have a post-game or moves on the block.

Of the two, Diop is way ahead offensively...That is where Cole needs the most work, but the experience he gained a year ago will really help us.

End of the day, just give me someone that can anchor the D, grab a board, and occasionally throw up a baby hook that goes in, and I'll be good.

More than anything, I just want to see a big body! Sometimes that alters shot which is as effective as blocking them.
Remember Lammers really blossomed his last two years. He was just a late bloomer. Maybe Cole is that, too. We’ll see. He also needs to bulk up some. Maybe Lammers just finally got the good coaching he needed from Reveno. He started his move, though, in the last season of Gregory, IIRC. That was the first of the two NIT years, right? Anyway, it would be nice to see Cole hit a similar arc.

I do agree we could really use an experienced big that is primarily a strong rebounder and rim protector. That is the biggest missing piece on this roster right now.

Jordan is more an outside-in player who needs to play tougher.
Diop is an inside player who just needs to play consistently hard. At OTE this year he avg 7.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.5 bpg in 16.8 mpg. shot 68% from the floor (most of his attempts are layups or dunks) and 73% FT (which is solid for a big and much better than Sylla). I'm not expecting Ndongo type FR numbers, i'd take 7,7,1+ right now as a solid start to his career.

I’m taking Dennis TREY Scott III over Marshall and most options

Real question ... if he wasn't DScott's son ... what would be the interest level?

I remember seeing his HS highlights and understanding why we didn't seem to have much interest. That's the best way I can put it.

FWIW, Mike Walz from Richmond put his name in the portal.
6'11, 260 Sr from Richmond. Will need a waiver to play next season.
4-yr player at Richmond (very rare these days). Was team captain this season.

SENIOR (2025-26)
• One of three Spiders to start all 32 games ... fourth on team with 21.3 minutes per game
• 7.9 points per game (fifth on team)
• Led team with 6.4 rebounds per game (sixth in A-10), 2.3 assists per game, and 0.7 blocks per game
• 38.5% three-point shooting (fifth on team, 16th in A-10 among those with at least 75 three-point attempts)
• Second in A-10 in defensive rebound percentage, via KenPom (24.5%)
• Seventh in A-10 in offensive rebound percentage, via KenPom (10.2%)
• Ninth in A-10 in block percentage, via KenPom (4.4%)
• 75-foot halftime buzzer beater at Belmont on Dec. 3 was No. 8 on that night's SportsCenter Top 10
• Graduated from UR No. 9 on the school's list of highest career three-point field goal percentage, at 39.7% (56-141)
• CSC Academic All-District Selection

Just curious, would you take Marshall back if it didn't require much nil since you need a big body?
Has good hands and passes the ball well. Has some nice low post moves. Stayed with rebounds and put backs when he didn't get them on the first attempt. His free throw shooting improved over his previous year.

CDS spoke highly of him when he came to Tech. He had a defined role off the bench and played well for the most part in the minutes he was getting. His role seemed to diminish as the season went on. I know he was hurt at one point. I don't know if conditioning was a factor or not.

For what it's worth, 24/7 has him rated at 93 in the transfer portal. That may command more money than we can spend at this point for what we would get back. Seems crazy that we might be priced out of our own players. If we were going to spend big on our own guys, I would say go after Fleming first. He seemed to have more upside than most if not all of the guys.

I did not see this player.

Heh, to be fair, he did some of those things some of the time. Jut not all of them all the time. Clear?

Honestly tho, he looked solid in his first couple games and it kinda trailed off from there. I don't know if it was stamina or what, but he seemed to regress. Ended up being an auto-foul/turnover.

Glimpses in the first couple games of the season. WitPro when the calendar hit December.
WitPro? Is that some Cajun Mainer speak for "no bueno"?

I do miss some of the November games. I may have missed this flash of brilliance, over even basic competence.
This team was a mess to start the season. His play was a pleasant surprise. CDS was big on him and touted the potential of our bigs before the season started. As the season went along, his leash seemed to get shorter and shorter.
