This season is Hell for me because of my - now one - contact lense. I regularly have to take the lense out to relieve the pain in my eye from pollen getting under it.

But soon I'll get the cataract surgery on my other eye. (And, btw, this operation if a Godsend; I think of all the prior generations going slowly blind and I'm thankful.) Then all I'll have to put up with is continual tearing.

Cataract surgery is a miracle. Had it a few years ago, went from 20/160 to 20/20. No more goggle glasses or uncomfortable contacts

I'm 20/680 nearsighted. Without contacts - I've had them since I was 12 - I'd be even blinder today. For some reason, loss of sight slows down with contacts. But I'm really looking forward to getting my cataracts removed.

One thing: I got the replacement lense that corrects for distance. Now my feet look bigger. It's weird.

Notes from the ajc reagarding Paul -

"Georgia Tech told the world about its new mascot, Paul Lenny, the “Fightin’ Pollen,” who notably appears as “a disgusting shade of yellow that resembles the residue of the pine tree pollen.” He was created in honor of the Atlanta area’s record-breaking pollen counts last weekend, ..."

The announcement was written by “Polly Nadar,” and the graphics were credited to “April Fuelles.”
