We will see if we have a coaching staff after the half. The team was obviously not mentally prepared for this Wake Forest team. We make the Wake Forest defense look like the Pittsburgh Steeler's iron curtain.

We will see if Key can inspire a change in the second half.

Honestly what’s the worst that could happen by letting Philo in? If we’re going to abandon our established run game (for some reason) then at least execute some passes. Enough with the screens. We’re not in any shape to talk about an ACC title. The fact is, any winning team has to be able to win away from home. Our defense is the only reason why it’s even this close

Hand going forward when the QB releases it is an incomplete if the QB is throwing towards the ZLOS. That is consistent in college and pro football.
Was not going forward. Very clearly backwards along with the football.

Do you actually know the rule for a pass when the QBs are is contacted by a defender or are you offering an opinion? Where the ball goes does not matter if the officials rule the QBs are was hit during his arm's forward motion.

Fumble ruled on the field and overturned on replay. Sucked for us but it was the correct call.

Nope. Wrong to be overturned. The nose of the ball was pointed down when it got knocked out of his hand. Should have been upheld as a fumble. It was clear he was pulling the ball down and not trying to make a pass.

You don't have to contact the QB's arm or ball, even, actually.

But even from the 2025 rule book linked in the other thread, this seems like a correct overturn because the sequence was pass started -> contact -> tuck; not pass started -> tuck -> contact. The bit about "contacts the passer or ball after forward movement" does not include a clause saying "unless there's a tuck after that".

How can a ball move backwards in the air and it not be a live ball? In all other cases, a ball moving towards your own endzone in the air is the same as a fumble. I don't think the rules are meant to be interpreted against that. Why would the offense gain protection by the rules because the defense won the play and got to the QB?
