I’d say Coach Guth did an acceptable job. He was just too old, it was nice of Dean to give Bill the reins but ideally Dean should have done it five years prior after the 93 title. But Guthridge coached for three seasons and made the Final Four in two of those years. He set up Doherty with a great situation.
Also, Roy did just more than perform at an “acceptable level.” Roy went above and beyond, winning three titles to Dean’s two.
I would agree about BG but they HATED him for whatever reason. Never be the guy that follows THE guy.

Seeing some noise behind Luke Murray to Boston College. Boston College is hitting from every angle to get the NIL coffers he requested.

We might have gotten passed by Boston College.

Wow.

The Yellow Jacket in me hopes Scott Cross can get him as an assistant. (But with that buyout Hubert probably can just retire at this point, plus if he gets another job it’s definitely as a HC, in fact ignore all of this it’s a pipe dream)

The Tar Heel in me is torn. Wish him the best, he’s a class human being and for the most part he did an okay job. UNC unfortunately is just a high pressure position for a coach.

Someone with Hubert Davis's resume isn't taking an assistant job unless it is someone with whom he has a personal relationship. He isn't on LinkedIn networking.

The same in me for my hopes that Caleb will want to come home to Atlanta and play. He had such a good game at McCamish before he got hurt.

Actually it is an accurate description for how McEnroe acted on the tennis court.
McEnroe was just misunderstood. 😊 Funny thing was he worked on his anger management issues, got better as a human being, worse as a tennis player.

Do you think Hurley would ever be able to make fun of himself and grow into a decent human being? Not judging, just asking in the starkest of terms. 😊

oh I know. He's either getting a HC job or riding out into the sunset of retirement.
He is very highly respected in basketball circles. A gig in tv broadcasting maybe? He has plenty of money but may want to remain in coaching. He will likely have several opportunities. In any event some of the UNC alums could find a place for him in business. They like him as a person just not as their coach.

Genetics wouldn’t allow that level of introspection

But for a few twists and turns in the season he would still be coaching at UNC. He knows that and probably feels he still needs to be coaching somewhere. Several programs would love to give him a chance but would those programs feel like too much of a demotion for him? We shall see.

There really isnt anywhere to go BUT down from UNC is there? When you consider tradition, geography, money, conference etc, I would say its the best job in the counrty.
