For sure. I think we're more commenting on the optics and how it may impact how scouts see him than any actual concern with Alex himself. If you watch him play for any length of time, you can see that he's a baller, but if scouts are checking in on him here and there and happen to catch a few games where he puts out those vibes it could impact his stock.

I see Hernandez still excited for his teammates not sulking and enjoying big moments. Kyle Wren even noticed it against NC State..

Interesting discourse, but I've never thought of the Golden Spikes as a cumulative award, so imo it's been curtains on Burress for over a month now with his slow start (unless he goes absolutely bananas the final month of the year).

Lackey had a legitimate shot with his numbers a few weeks ago, but he started cooling off right as Burress started to heat up. Crazy that they almost have the same average now

If Burress goes on a heater he still has a shot. He’s hitting .346. His HR count is down but based on his career HRs as well as his career HRs in HS I think there is no way he doesn’t end up with between 15-20 by seasons end. I do believe the voters made their minds up on Roch before the season started though.

Side note. I don’t get the love affair with Roch I don’t see him as a generational can’t miss prospect like he’s being made out to be. I would say Lackey honestly fits that mold more so than Roch..

After Joe Ham losing the Heisman to Ron Dane, I feel like we’re still due an apology from the Awards gods. Maybe a career achievement award for Burress will close that karmic loop for us!

Would the committee stick uga in the Atlanta regional? Arent they around 20-something RPI and therefore in the running to be a 2 seed at a non-SEC host?

And also should we be concerned about that? I wouldnt be thrilled to have them here myself (also believe we are the better team and showed it, midweek result aside)

A lot would have to go wrong for ugag not to be hosting.

At this point there's more of a chance of our regional being paired up with theirs and hosting them in the Supers.

That being said, they're good enough that I still think theres a REALLY good chance they are a top 8 seed too and we wouldn't see them til Omaha.

What was our RPI last year when we didn’t host despite winning a loaded ACC? Warren Nolan says #19 but I don’t know if that includes the postseason games or not.

UGA is currently sitting 19th. I just don’t see how they get a free pass for playing a terrible schedule and racking up some Ws against the bottom of the SEC. That was the exact argument against us hosting last year. And somehow they’re gonna walk into a national seed after playing a worse schedule?

I just made a long post in the ACC General thread (probably should’ve put it here instead) comparing them and FSUs predicted final RPIs from Warren Nolan and how they got there.

Basically, it seems like while uga lucked out getting SCar and Missouri at home, they otherwise have a pretty tough SEC schedule that they’ve done well against so far. What’s dragging them down is their AWFUL Q4 schedule. 9 games vs teams in the bottom-40 in all of baseball. Question is, should we or the committee really care? If they beat up on teams ranked 150-190 vs 260-300 I don’t think anyone would consider that anymore impressive, but imagine their RPI would get a decent bump

As a 1-4 seed we will be paired with a 29-32 seed. UGA is probably higher than that. Going off of Warren Nolan’s live RPI right now, that could be Tennessee, Arkansas or Liberty (location-wise).

Nolan’s predicted RPI has Tennessee dropping all the way to #49, though, so there is a lot of movement possible over the last 3 weekends. Not to mention that the seeding order diverges from RPI and that divergence will increase as you get farther from the top. We could probably look at any team in the 24-37 range as a potential 2-seed.

I mean, why use RPI at all if you’re going to use it selectively. There’s a difference in the 150-190 teams and the 260-300. If they play 150-190 maybe they lose a few of them.

A bunch of teams included high level games early in the season to improve their SOS and RPI, why should they be penalized? If the dwags included Georgia State and Kennesaw they would’ve had teams in the 120 range. We also have Northwestern and Xavier that are in the 90-120 range.
