I am a mechanical engineer by degree who has ended up in a CS job. My code is only able to function on my particular machine, on a Friday after eating burgers for lunch, after pressing Escape three times, and while I'm not looking at the terminal.

So with that in mind I will ritual away for these baseball games.
I do often snap my fingers after hitting enter, and then point at the screen!

Back in 2022 I thought about sacrificing a goat our pitching was so bad. It’s good NavyNuke keeps it simple with raking leaves.

I do whatever will keep me away from following the game when I feel the need; I think it was cutting the grass once and walking the dog several times (without GT App on). Specifically staying away from the first inning when we were giving up so many runs earlier in the season. It has worked this year. Walking by myself outside was last tried in an evening Auburn game where CDH lost the leash.

Other practices which work, and are elementary:
  • introduce game / series threads only when they are the next game.
  • never say or imply in chat we will win till we have.
  • when we put on two in the first inning with no outs, ask who is warming up for us. (Happened too frequently this season.)
  • switch how I follow the game, either GT App or Statbroadcast or both when things go bad.
  • drinking Irish whiskey may work for the team but no longer works for me sleeping that night.

I'm sure you realize making this public immediately nullifies all magical effects.

I haven’t cut my hair (which I’m a real stickler about) since the comeback win against Wake. I hope we win the rest our games in the minimum # needed as I’m starting to look like 15 year old Justin Bieber

The fact you asked me this is pretty funny/ironic. I'm sorry to disappoint... but I am the biggest 'mocker' of jinxy hexer types. While I enjoy the banter and I'd NEVER EVER want any of it to be squashed, I am not that guy.

Here is a list of things I see/read here that get me to chuckle (no particular order):
- "We need to worry about the next game... " This one is great. A fan forum where there's concern fans talking about the future is equivalent to actual players looking ahead.
- @GTNavyNuke going outside to rake leaves (or whatever) when GT is pitching
- Others @Eli or @DecaturJacket ?? ...wear the same shirt/jersey

I do hope others weigh in ... the "believers" amoung us. There are more than a few. I'm like you.. I want to hear/read about the nonsense. :)

...and finally, before @Home Park Jacket outs me. I cannot run away from these facts. Ga Tech as played 57 games. They have lost 9. I have attended 2 games in person. Ga Tech is 0-2 in those games.

Unrelated... I have no plans to attend any postseason games.
Your attendance record made me re-visit mine. I'm 12-2 while in person.

3-0 against Bowling Green.
1-0 at Georgia Southern.
2-1 at Pitt
3-0 vs FSU
0-1 at UNC
3-0 at ACC Tournament

I plan to be at Regionals. After that Super Regionals and Omaha as long as we keep winning!

Let's Go Jackets! THWG!

That's excellent.
I'm at 30-4 this season.

My wife planned a trip to Shenandoah National Park the week of Boston College so I had to watch that series on my phone. I tried to talk her into letting me drive a little bit further, but she wouldn’t allow it.

Tennessee is reportedly saving their ace for G2 for a potential matchup with UNC. Risky move against an ECU team some media are picking to win that regional. ECU already split a weekend series with UNC 1-1-1 (third game was tied when called due to weather).

I think I heard on the D1 podcast that ECU is doing the same.

Interesting. UNC can’t be happy about that. Wonder if they consider switching up their rotation to match. Although I don’t get the hype over DeCaro. His era is not indicative of his underlying numbers. He’s due to regress to those underlying numbers.

They’re gonna need Glauber / McDuffie to go 5 innings/game to make it out pretty much every round of this tourney regardless of who starts for them.

I would think UNC would certainly need to save their top 2 starters for Sat and Sun, but given what their 3rd starter looked like and the fact VCU is no pushover, that could be very risky.

Good point on VCU being a legit threat as well. UNC has to throw the kitchen sink Friday/Saturday to get to 2-0. Which probably means hitting well + burning both relievers. Then bullpen day for G6 (basically conceding) and then DeCaro + whichever of McDuffie / Glauber has more rest. Think their coach is going to really regret not building staff depth like Ramsey did. Borderline negligence when you consider the risk to these kids careers. Glauber threw 75 innings in 58 games as a freshman. Stupid.

I saw a tweet that said before 2013, UNC pitched off a lot but since then UNC has never pitched off. Knowing that, their ideal scenario is probably Decaro+(one of Glauber/McDuffie) then Lynch+(the other reliever) to go 2-0. Then piece together 9 innings from Glauber/McDuffie/Rose. Boaz has not been impressive the times I have seen him and their fans seem to think the same.

In this scenario, one of Glauber/McDuffie is throwing back to back and the other is going on a days rest. Nothing new to either of them. I could see Rose going back to back or 1 day rest too.

Interesting, will backfire on someone. UNC is playing 5pm game so they'll know their opponent on Saturday (assuming they win).

Expect UNC to not throw their best on Friday, anyone heard? UNC pitching is very good at the top and shallow, so that weighs towards saving their better ptichers. They'll need to manage it well and hope pitcher overuse doesn't rear it's nasty head as has happened in past years.
