How far do we fall in the AP today? I somewhat optimistically think we stay just inside the Top 15 at #14. Top 7 stays the same. BYU, ND, Texas Tech, UVA, Louisville, and Oklahoma all jump us. Texas, Vandy, Utah, USC, Miami, and Michigan round off the Top 20

Probably between #15-20 knowing the bias that we are told doesn't exist
^ At best. I suspect a lot of voters have been waiting for a reason to take us down, and we just gave them one. We were overrated at #7 given the weakness of our schedule and the manner in which we won some of those games.

I was looking for 8 wins this year, so I'm a Happy Jacket ™️.

Now, I'm hoping that the team will use this reality check as motivation to finish strong.

The only thing I know about the rankings is we will be the #3 team in the ACC in the rankings at best. UVA has a win over L'ville, L'ville has a win over Miami, GT doesn't have a win over any team that is in the Top 25 or likely to be in the Top 25. I think we will stay in front of Miami.

Was a very bad day for our SoS yesterday as well. Temple and CO both got destroyed.
Most of the ACC teams we played lost (except Duke, who beat Clemson and we played both so it didn't matter). Wake got blasted by FSU.

Between 13-18. 6 ranked teams lost yesterday, 5 in relatively close games and 1 blowout (Cincinatti).

Unfortunately, it was a 2-score loss. That will hurt, especially for all those who never believed, and we will be penalized for it. We’ll probably drop 7 or more spots to somewhere between #15-20. Into the middle of the pack of 1-loss teams.

Let’s stop worrying about friggin rankings, Pitt, UGA, ACC Championship game, Championship playoff and just prepare for and concern ourselves with beating BC.

They are next up & one of the many teams on our schedule that figures into our SOS being so low. They are 1-8 with only win against Patriot League last place team, Fordham. Yet, at home yesterday v ND the score was 0-0 after 1, 12-7 at half, & 18-10 after 3. BC passed for 269 yds with a 9 yd average per catch in the 25-10 loss. Expect passing every play because they’re run games (12 yds rushing) sucks much worse than our pass defense.

Yesterday didn’t help our SOS. Every team we beat getting to 8-0 lost, except for Duke over & @ Clemson because both couldn’t lose that game, although they each tried hard enough and deserved to. Colorado, Temple at home & WF @ FSU were crushed. I am so tired of being taunted on social media with “overrated” & “who have you beaten”. Up until now I fought back. Yesterday left me defenseless.

Let’s go take all this out on and beat on BC. Not about ratings, rankings or anything 3 weeks or more away. Just win the next game

We’re not in the locker room my guy. We could post 50 hours of game film analysis on this board or talk about unicorns and fairies for the next 2 weeks and it’ll have the same impact on how our football team plays against BC

#18 after our defense was OWNED by the NC St OFFENSE.

Let's win out the regular season and then worry about being in the Top 11 and getting a shot at the CFP regardless of if we are in or win the ACC CG.

Somehow we will have 3 loss SEC teams ranked ahead of us. This is what makes me sick. Bama can get obliterated by FSU and it doesn’t matter, Texas can lose to 3-5 UF and it doesn’t matter. Vandy has equal wins to that of Tech and one more loss but will jump us after they lost. The entire system is f****** up. SEC can have 5 bad games and aren’t eliminated until losing 3 games maybe even 4 but an ACC team can only have one loss or their At Large bid isn’t happening.

Now... do that same exercise looking at win column. That's why. We cannot run away from the fact our opponents (so far) are average to below average teams. 8-0 in that situation is fine.... but drop one like last night & you are exposed.

UVA, Louisville, GT will all be in the same area. I think we probably fall below them both. Question is who leaps that group and who doesn't?

Top 10 is pretty much set. OSU, IU, aTm, Alabama, uGA, Oregon, Ole Miss, BYU, Texas Tech, and for some reason 2-loss ND.

The rest is where it gets muddy. Just depends on how pollsters value records vs. losses. We are in a group with Oklahoma, Texas, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Michigan, Utah, USC, Miami, and maybe Memphis. That puts our ceiling at 13th (ahead of all 2-loss teams, behind Louisville/UVA) and floor at 21st (behind all those 2-loss teams and Memphis). I think we land at 15th, behind Louisville/UVA/OU/Texas and ahead of the rest.

I think we deserve to be in the 17-19 range, but we’ll see. I’ve seen some Twitter accounts have us at 12-14 this morning for whatever that’s worth.

We might be pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind that none of these voters actually watch every game - that might benefit us here.
