Buying the RB Haynes was definitely a big time move but it sure would have been nice to have gotten 3-4 guys of that caliber, like Seaton. I am way past the point to believe we will actually win at a big time level because GT has yet to commit to do that. I do believe we can be a 8-9 win team pretty consistently with a chance for an ACC title every 4-5 years but will that be enough to pack the Dodd and keep Key. Key will continue to be sought after as there will be 5-7 firings from top 25 teams every year and eventually Key may decide to go if our classes remain in the 30-40 range.

[QUOTE="SOWEGA Jacket, post: 1161496, member: 4334"] We've tried that the past 60 years and it has led us to mid level status because the vast majority of high end players of the past 40 years simply want to play with other high end players and get drafted. Sure, you have exceptions like Calvin, Luck, and a few others who chose academic schools but the vast majority of studs don't care (the reasons why they don't care are a huge societal issue but that's another topic). What you posted works great for the 3 stars and below because the majority of those teenagers understand where they actually stand in the sport which is why the academic schools have a majority of them. The real question for most schools and fanbases is this - do you really want to win or do you just want to field a team and have something to do? GT has clearly decided the past 60 years to just field a team for something to do. Otherwise, we would have had a robust bagman system and bought a lot more players and won. Instead, we ceded the bagman system to Bama, UGA, Auburn, FSU, Clemson, and South Carolina in our area and watched 95% of high end Atlanta area players play for everyone else not named Georgia Tech. That was a decision GT made. NIL is so new it's hard to tell right now if GT is really serious. Sure, we bought the 5 star last year and made some really nice no name acquisitions like Haynes King, Malachi Hosley, and Rutledge who all turned into studs, but until we start outbidding UGA, Bama, Auburn, etc for guys out of high school I'm still unsure.
